Royal British Legion

Remembrance Parade and Service at Buckland Church 3.00pm.

On a cold but bright and dry day, the Buckland St Mary Remembrance Service was held at 3.00pm on 10th November.

The Buckland branch of the Royal British Legion led the procession into St Mary's Church followed by the Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts.

The service was led by Andrew Bell for a large congregation.

Towards the end of the service the Standards were taken outside where everybody gathered around the War Memorial to hear the names read out of all those who had given their lives in both World Wars and keep a two minute silence.

After the service light refreshments were served in the Church.

40 Years Our Church Organist

Buckland St Mary farmer, Bernard Gready, has been organist for 40 years at St Mary the Virgin in the village.   To mark this achievement and to thank him for all the pleasure his music has brought to many people, the Parochial Church Council celebrated with a meal at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster.  Lay Reader Andrew Bell presented Bernard with an inscribed tankard filled with chocolates and later he received a special cake.
